SAF Health Portal is a platform that helps the community fight crime / violence against women and children. Through the different experiences, one can testify and share their story on the platform to seek justice, advice and also get helped by a team of professionals. The prevalence of sexual violence in the work place and in institutions of education as seen in the recent media reports is deeply disturbing. It calls for a long-overdue reflection on the social and institutional structures that promote these acts, as well as on our own actions.
In a report released by Rao (2018) in the Africa Renewal, most girls will not report sexual violence because no one will believe them and the fear of insult and humiliation will keep them from talking. The portal allows young women to access accurate information on SRHR and self-care that guards them against GBV especially sexual violence, contracting diseases and unsafe abortions. The portal is a safe place to engage, seek help and get information on SRHR using codes instead of names. This will promote anonymity and confidentiality that the victims are looking for.
The portal also gives young women power to decide for themselves and make better choices for their sexuality and bodies. Seek help standardized to what they want to get, like asking for a doctor or counselor, Decide whether they want an online conversation or to speak directly to the service provider in physical. (This will allow them to choose which kind of service provider they would like to go to, counseling, police, health Centre and have the choice of picking the sex of that doctor as well).
Through the portal, users will be able to report anonymously about the perpetuators.
